The Guest Bedroom

The other day, I promised I’d upload more pictures of our guest bedroom. So I’ve followed through on that promise, but I have to warn you…

It’s pretty crazy!!

Dave and I have officially named every bedroom in our house by color. We have a purple room, a blue room, a bright purple room, a grey room,¬†and then this one…

…which we call the “tie-dye room”

.

More faded carpeting, more mirrored doors…

…and more wallpaper!!

Don’t worry, there are only 2 more layers of wallpaper underneath!!

We already ripped out the carpet…

And the closets…

So now it looks like this.

But just wait until you see what we have planned.

Psst: I’ll give you a hint — there won’t be any wallpaper OR mirrored doors :)

  • I love that you can see past all the YUCK and invision a space that is beautiful and just how you like it! I have the same personality…..some people think we’re crazy I think! I am convinced that if a house has great bones and the homeowner is willing to use some elbow grease you can produce some unbelievable results! Great progress so far..can’t wait to see what you have planned for all your spaces!

You know – Layla (The Lettered Cottage) just put mirrors on her closet doors. I just had to laugh. However, I would have to agree with you!

Layla actually commented on my blog to let me know she was putting mirrors on her closet doors!! How cool is that!!

And I saw their mirrored doors — just a BIT classier than ours! hahaha

I saw the mirrors on “The Lettered cottage” just today. I have to agree with you, I am not a fan of them, but….they looked really good on
The Lettered Cottages’ closet. I can’t wait to see what you do. I can envision it myself decorated as it is, a farmhouse.

Yes, the Lettered Cottage mirrored doors look amazing!

I’m so glad you can envision our home as it will be. Hopefully our design ideas will “live up to your expectations”!!

    Thanks for stopping by!

Have you seen the mirrored doors at The Lettered Cottage? They’re lovely and worth checking out!

I clearly didn’t read the comments above lol. Anyhow, I absolutely loved those doors and I am not a fan of mirrors either.

In my husband’s and my 5th renovation house (we are now on the sixth and FINAL – an old farmhouse!) we had a room that was decorated (and I use that term loosely) with a similar pattern. Instead of calling it the tie-dye room, we called it the rabid squirrel room. As in, “I think this room must have been painted by a rabid squirrel.” Enjoy the peeling and scraping!

Wow — you’re on your 6th renovation house? I’m not sure we could handle that!!! We’re on #2 but this is “the house” so we’re planning to stay here for while.

Honestly, you have to wonder what people are thinking when they “decorate” an old farmhouse {or any house for that matter} with bright purple, blue, green, tie-dye, etc. I guess it will just make for an ever better before-and-after transformation!

Good luck with your farmhouse :)
